World Quaker Day 2024
World Quaker Day was celebrated on October 6, 2024, in Mbale, Uganda, bringing Friends together for a vibrant hybrid event. The theme of this year’s gathering centered on reading and reflecting upon the Epistle from the World Quaker Plenary Meeting, held in South Africa in early 2024. The Epistle was read by Cyrus Tsemao, Clerk of the Young Friends Program of Uganda Yearly Meeting, with Pastor Alfred Wasike providing further insights on its themes.
The Clerk of the FWCC Africa Section congratulated Uganda Yearly Meeting for their successful hosting efforts. In his address, he encouraged Uganda Yearly Meeting to lead by example, especially as the country takes on a greater role in hosting Quaker events. He challenged the community to continue wto come out .
